The Local Agenda 21 (LA21) Aachen African Spring Festival is currently underway in Cape Town in celebration of the five year anniversary of the LA21 Partnership between the City of Cape Town and the City of Aachen in Germany. The highlight of the festival is the Freshlyground concert to be held at the Manyanani Peace Park in Khayelitsha.

Gates open at 13:00. Come early to avoid disappointment as space in the park is restricted and only a limited amount of people can be accommodated.

The band has visited Aachen twice and presented a series of concerts and workshops for the youth. They have agreed to do a concert for the people of Khayelitsha and this is being offered free of charge.

This first open air concert by Freshlyground in a township will also include some local performances and Capetonians are invited to join in the fun and celebration. Due to security reasons, entrance will be restricted to 2200 people.

The partnership is a joint venture between the City and the community in promoting sustainable development through projects, exchanges, networking and raising awareness. The aim is to apply the principles of Agenda 21 and initiate partnership projects that improve environmental, social and economic conditions, with a particular focus on poverty eradication.

The Spring Festival is being hosted in communities around Cape Town through a variety of open days.
