The raised, four meter wide sign, made of metal and intertwined with petunias, has been placed at the main entrance to the Gardens.
The unveiling by Phumla Mrubata, Operations Manager for City Parks, will be accompanied by a special service, and the lighting of candles and the laying of four wreaths in memory of the staff and community members in each of the four City Parks districts.
The theme of the event is "connecting communities". To symbolically link Cape Town's diverse communities in the fight against HIV/Aids, City Parks has placed over 400 red ribbons on trees lining the main routes leading to Claremont.
These include Strand Road in Somerset West until it becomes Voortrekker Road, from Woodstock Road along the Main Road to Ardene Gardens, and from the Simon's Town Main Road into Claremont.
