Wes-Kaapse Taalbeleid (Beleid)

Na vyf jaar se beraadslaging het die Wes-Kaapse Taalkomitee die Wes-Kaapse Taalbeleid afgehandel, wat die eerste in sy soort in Suid-Afrika is. Die beleid sal help om 'n Tuiste vir Almal in die provinsie te skep deur die gelyke status en gebruik van die drie amptelike provinsiale tale, Afrikaans, Engels en isiXhosa. Dit steun ook die gebruik van Suid-Afrikaanse Gebaretaal, die Khoi- en Santale en die ander amptelike Suid-Afrikaanse tale. Dié beleid is in Junie 2004 deur die Provinsiale Parlement goedgekeur.  >

A study of the performance of the provincial government in meeting the language needs among its personnel, stakeholders and the general public. The report explores the way in which senior officials understand the implications of language policy and the problems encountered in implementing legislation; evaluates the patterns of language use and competence among the personnel and problems that arise in day-to-day interactions; assesses the extent to which the language needs and preferences of the general public are addressed when interacting with government; and identifies the problems encountered during stakeholder interactions.  >
