The Directorate Disaster Management and Fire Brigade Services aims to promote the development, implementation and maintenance of effective disaster management and fire brigade services in the Western Cape.
Disaster management aims at
- Preventing or reducing the risk of disasters;
- Mitigating the severity or consequences of disasters;
- Emergency preparedness;
- Rapid and effective response to disasters;
- Post-disaster recovery and rehabilitation.
