This report is an evaluation by Radian of the PGWC's Cape Gateway project, assessing to what extent it is meeting its objective of providing easy access to government information. Cape Gateway consists of three major components, all of which are considered: a walk-in centre, a call centre and an online portal which supports both as well as being directly accessible over the Internet.  >

A series of user tests were conducted on www.capegateway.gov.za by Steve Vosloo, Design and Usability Project Leader at the Centre for e-Innovation, to gather feedback on version one of the portal and inform improvements for version two. The objective of this evaluation was to gauge the effectiveness of the Cape Gateway project and determine whether the portal, walk-in centre and contact (call) centre can effectively provide information to citizens, business and government customers. This evaluation looked at whether the Cape Gateway project incorporates accepted best practice principles and whether the proposed portal was likely to give the citizens of the Western Cape real access to online government information.  >
