At the close, the Premier said she was very happy with the meeting and the fact that she and the Mayor had agreed on issues raised and how to take them forward.
Many issues were raised that needed to be unblocked, including:
- Public Transport
- Security
- Housing
The Premier and the Mayor said they were both pleased with how well the 2010 and Disaster Management teams of the City and Provincial government work together.
Follow up meetings are now being arranged between Housing officials from both the City and Provincial Government as well as Transport Officials. Cooperation on security is also being looked into.
Finance, Economic Development and Tourism MEC Garth Strachan and the City's Economic Development and Tourism Councellor Simon Grindrod are also planning to meet to discuss the way forward with CTRU (Cape Town Routes Unlimited) following the City withdrawing funding from the destination marketing organisation, last year.
Premier Brown closed the meeting saying: "I think this meeting was very useful, I want to thank Madame Mayor for making herself available and want to note that our officials have always been able to keep their heads up, even in very high winds."
