The Ecumenical Foundation of South Africa (EFSA) Institute, in co-operation with the provincial Department of Social Development and the Africa Centre for HIV/Aids Management, offers training in leadership development, with a focus on interpersonal skills, networking skills and how to write a business proposal in order to secure funding. The training is mostly practical, in that trainees are expected to produce a business plan, which will be presented to the provincial Department of Social Development upon completion. Successful business proposals will be given seed funding to help realise the plan, while the top three proposals each year get an additional cash prize. Selection criteria Two hundred trainees are selected each year. Candidates are nominated by non-profit organisations and community bodies. In other words, you must be affiliated with an NPO/NGO or similar accredited community body (such as a faith-based organisation) in order to be considered for training. Trainees must:
Course duration Training is divided into two sections: a short, three-day leadership course, followed by a period of mentorship over a few months, during which the trainee is expected to research and develop a business proposal.Costs covered Tuition. Accommodation, food and transport to the course are covered for the initial three-day course, for those who need it. |
