Support for AgriBusiness
DESCRIPTION: |
The Department of Economic Development and Tourism can refer farmers to a wide range of information, support and training programmes. At present there is a particular focus on supporting the development and marketing of organic produce because of increased local and international demand for organic produce, the benefits of these farming methods in terms of biodiversity and sustainability, and the fact that organic farming lends itself to small-scale farming. Organic farmers can access training, business and marketing support and technical assistance through the agribusiness support programme. The development of potential organic farmers is being supported through the Agricultural Research Council, anationally mandated statutory body, and Elsenberg. |
