WHO CAN APPLY FOR A CONSOLIDATION SUBSIDY?

You can apply for a Consolidation Subsidy if:

  1. You have the title deed for serviced land that was given to you under a previous subsidy, but the land has no top structure.
  2. Neither you, nor your spouse, owns another property.
  3. Your average household income is less than R3 500.

Consolidation Subsidies, like Project-Linked Subsidies, are paid out on a group basis, so you will need to be part of a group with a set social contract (agreement) outlining the project goals and how you are going to achieve them. This group should be represented by a Community-Based Organisation.

HOW MUCH IS A CONSOLIDATION SUBSIDY WORTH?

It costs about R21 499 to build a 30 square metre top structure.

  • If your monthly household income is less than R1 500, you are eligible for a subsidy of R21 499.
  • If your monthly household income is more than R1 501 but less than R3 500, you are eligible for a subsidy of R19 020 and will have to pay in R2 479.
  • If your monthly household income is more than R1 501 but less than R3 500 and you are disabled or health-stricken, you are eligible for a subsidy of R21 499 and will not have to make a contribution out of tour own pocket.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A CONSOLIDATION SUBSIDY?

To apply for a Consolidation Subsidy, you need to follow the same process as for a Project Linked Subsidy.

WHAT DOCUMENTATION MUST I SUPPLY WHEN APPLYING FOR A CONSOLIDATION SUBSIDY?

As per Project Linked Subsidies.

WILL I HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING BACK?

The housing subsidy is not a loan and you do not need to pay it back.
