Feeding Schemes for the Poor
DESCRIPTION:
Vulnerable members of the community - especially those who are unemployed and children who do not benefit from school feeding schemes - can take advantage of any number of feeding schemes run by non-profit organisations and funded by the provincial Department of Social Development.

Feeding schemes also serve as the entry point to a number of subsistence programmes that aim to teach people how to provide for themselves while encouraging greater involvement in the community through youth programmes, HIV awareness programmes and the like.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Feeding schemes are run at Drop-In Centres in the Western Cape. Culturally sensitive feeding schemes (e.g. Halaal schemes) are also available.

Contact the District Office closest to you to find out about the feeding schemes and Drop-In Centres in your area.
