Registration of Manufacturers, Importers and Builders of Motor Vehicles

DESCRIPTION:

Every vehicle that is manufactured or built in South Africa or is imported to South Africa must be registered before it is distributed or sold.

INSTRUCTIONS:

As the manufacturer or importer of a vehicle, you need to submit form MVR1-MIB at a motor vehicle registration office to have it registered.

The form needs to be accompanied by:

the ID of the title holder of the motor vehicle (if the vehicle is purchased under a hire purchase agreement)
the ID of the owner of the motor vehicle
the appropriate registration fees
a certificate issued by the manufacturer, builder or importer stating:

the chassis number
the engine number
the make
the model name
the tare in kilograms
the engine capacity in cubic centimetres
the nett engine power
the main colour
the model number

a police clearance certificate
a roadworthiness certificate.
