Draft Guidelines: NEMA Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations Guidelines and Information Document Series

SUMMARY
Availability of the latest drafts of the guidelines in terms of the environmental impact assessment (eia) regulations promulgated under chapter 5 of the national environmental management act, 1998 (act 107 of 1998) (nema)

Following the publication of draft guidelines for comment in terms of the requirements of Regulation 76 of Government Notice 385 of 21 April 2006 (the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations), the guideline on Transitional Arrangements, Public Participation, Alternatives, Exemption Applications and Appeals have been updated. The Department's NEMA Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations Guideline and Information Document Series therefore consists of the following draft guidelines:

(a) Guideline on Transitional Arrangements (September 2007)
(b) Guideline on Public Participation (September 2007)
(c) Guideline on Alternatives (September 2007)
(d) Guideline on Exemption Applications (September 2007)
(e) Guideline on Appeals (September 2007)
(f) Guideline on the Interpretation of the Listed activities (November 2006)

These guidelines are still in draft form and will only be finalised once the amendments to NEMA and the EIA Regulations are promulgated.
