In order to consolidate and advance reconciliation in South Africa, the Western Cape Provincial Government has decided to undertake a major new project at the V & A Waterfront.
This project will celebrate the contribution to South Africa of our four Nobel Peace Prize laureates - Nkosi Albert Luthuli, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, and former Presidents Nelson Mandela and F. W. De Klerk. Designed to add significantly to the process of nation-building the project also has the potential to become a new international and domestic tourism draw-card for visitors to the province.
Details of the project will be formally announced at an event on 14 December 2003 at the V & A Waterfront - two days before National Reconciliation Day. This event will be attended by some of South Africa's most prominent and respected leaders, and will set the tone for the implementation of the project.
