 Laura Angeletti du Toit hands over the key of the newly upgraded pharmacy to Dr Kurt Maart, Senior Superintendent of the Somerset Hospital Laura Angeletti du Toit hands over the key of the newly upgraded pharmacy to Dr Kurt Maart, Senior Superintendent of the Somerset Hospital, known to be the oldest hospital in South Africa. Laura and project co-ordinator Wayne Taylor recently attended the handing-over ceremony, during which Public Works was thanked by the Provincial Health Minister, Pierre Uys, for its part in completing the upgrading of the new pharmacy. The project started in February 2004 and cost R1,1 m.By upgrading this pharmacy, Public Works helped to boost the Department of Health's strategy of service delivery and accessible health care. Patients will no longer have to walk up to 500 m to fetch their medication at the old pharmacy situated in the northern part of the hospital. |
