Breaches of Provincial Government Security
5 July 2006
SOURCE: Premier of the Western Cape (Provincial Government of the Western Cape)
"Over the past few weeks there have been several incidents involving alleged breaches of Provincial Government security. One of these incidents has included a tabloid newspaper claiming to be in possession of copies of sms's which originate from a Government cell phone. These breaches are in contravention of legislation that protects both government and society from illegal surveillance. The Provincial Government of the Western Cape views this in a very serious light and I have asked for a full investigation. The law must then take its course on completion of the investigation."
