"The long queues are regretted. I encourage people to use other testing centres in the City to secure driving and learners licence appointments as the New Ottery Testing Centre can only process 170 applications a day under ideal circumstances," Cllr Thompson said.
"Unfortunately more than double this number queued from opening time on Monday and the problem was exacerbated by continuing E-natis problems," she said.
Although the controllers of the system, the Provincial Administration Western Cape, had given the assurance that the system would be fully functional when the doors opened for the first time at 09:00 on Monday, it only came online at 09:30 as a result, only 122 applications could be processed.
On Tuesday, things went without a hitch and 170 applications were processed.
Today - E-natis problems again caused queue delays. The problem was caused by a Telkom line fault. The matter was reported to the E-natis national office and the problem was resolved within two hours. Despite the delay, 104 applications were processed.
With the centre only able to process 170 applications under normal circumstances it is fully booked for some procedures until early December.
Further applications will only be considered after the following dates.
