Today's Springbok Victory tour in the Western Cape was a resounding success. Tens of thousands of people gathered at the Grand Parade, along the tour route and at Newlands Stadium in expressions of collective joy and unity.

As the Springboks have taken the Web Ellis Trophy to various centres, we have seen how sport can unite our people, whether male or female, young or old, and regardless of their racial, religious or cultural beliefs.

Acting Premier Leonard Ramatlakane handed a green "Bok Vonk" bottle to Springbok Coach Jake White earlier today on behalf of the people and provincial government of the Western Cape. The entire team was also presented with a "Bok Vonk" bottle bearing the following inscription:

"BOK-VONK
A nation-building remedy to be applied in limitless quantities, as and when required. Safe to use and guaranteed to benefit South Africans of all ages and walks of life.

A Proudly South Afriican product. First prototype developed in 1995.Final product manufactured and bottled in Stade de France on 20 October 2007.

BOK-VONK is made of South African determination, commitment and pride. It also contains a concentrate of 48 million cheers, as well as traces of English blood, sweat and tears."

Acting Premier Ramatlakane said today: "We wish to thank the South African Rugby Football Union for their leadership, our national heroes for bringing the Web Ellis Cup home again and the people of the province for their unprecedented support for our national team.

"We have to use this momentum to channel our collective energies in realising the enormous potential of the 2010 World Cup, the biggest sporting spectacle in the world. Clarity of vision and the mindset of a winning nation has shown what sport can do to help make the Western Cape a Home for All."
