The Cape Gateway Portal is the official website of the Provincial Government Western Cape.
The portal is a large website (60,000+ pages) that provides easy access to government information and services, with a focus on the Western Cape. This information is also delivered through a call centre, a walk-in centre and an email channel. All these channels use the portal as their information source.

You'll research, write and edit content for government department and ministry websites. You'll distill complex information into plain, easily-understood language and content that is substantial, relevant and accurate.
You'll develop innovative design solutions and templates for government department and ministry websites, in line with the Cape Gateway portal visual style.
You'll build and support dynamic websites for government departments and ministries, using both web and non web-based content management systems, with responsibility for the full website development lifecycle. You'll work with graphic designers and branding specialists to implement the visual style of the portal.
You'll manage the production schedule, along with a team of content creators, designers and developers.
You'll define information architectures, conduct usability testing and champion usability standards and best practices for the portal and its network of government and ministry websites.
You'll manage relationships with government departments and ministries throughout the website production process and develop processes to ensure their active, ongoing involvement in the portal and with the online environment.
You'll translate English to Xhosa and Afrikaans, working to tight deadlines and cross-checking the quality and consistency of content provided by peers.
You'll develop an extensive network, working with departments and ministries to resolve a comprehensive range of government related queries from the public. You'll work face to face with clients as well as on email.
