- 1990 - the first child heart transplant
- 1990 - the home based tracheostomy care programme
- 1991 - the first and only paediatric liver transplant programme
- 1997 - the first double transplant on a child (liver and kidney)
- 2000 - the coke bottle spacer for MDI ("asthma pumps")
- 2001 - the first autologous epithelial autograft on a burn patient
- 2001-2002 - management of non accidental injury in Baby Tsepang
- 2001 - separation of conjoined twins from Port Elizabeth
- 2002 - separation of conjoined twins from Tanzania
- 2002 - the first living related liver transplant
