This policy forms the foundation for an environmental management strategy for the City of Cape Town. It has six priority strategies to deal with protecting our biodiversity and our coastal zone, preventing litter and illegal dumping, reducing air pollution and noise pollution, and creating quality open space. The policy includes a strategy on transportation, which seeks to maximise the benefits of transportation systems while minimising environmental costs, to create and promote a public transport system that is safe, accessible and affordable, and to minimise the need to travel.  >
