The unit provides for the effective licensing of the liquor trade, together with measures to promote the responsible use of liquor so as to limit the negative socail consequences of abuse.It also serves as the administration of the Western Cape Liquor Board and provides for the efficeint supervision of business licensing functions of local authorities as provided for in the Business Act, No 71 of 1991.
