The Provincial Population Unit designs, formulates, conducts and manages population development projects, either individually or with commission specialised population service providers.

The results of population development projects may be used to shape provincial population policy implementation activities, or to integrate population variables into development planning. The population analysts are expected to be capable of contributing to the full range of population development work, including population research, advocacy and capacity building. This can be either as a member of the population team for major projects, or individually for smaller projects.
