The focus of Tourism Business Development is to broaden the current ownership base within the tourism industry in the Western Cape and ensure that there are more successful, profitable and thriving black-owned tourism businesses in the Province.

We try to achieve these objectives by supporting tourism entrepreneurs to:

• Improve their business management skills and abilities.
• Increase their awareness of tourism and its opportunities and challenges.
• Ensure market access for these businesses through a variety of mechanisms.

Additionally, the Tourism Business Development has also employed a Tiered Support Strategy where businesses are divided into four groups or levels of business development. A unique set of programmes has been developed for each of these levels.

THE TOURISM BUSINESS FORUM

Tourism Business Development has partnered with a number of organisations who see transformation and BEE as one of their key objectives.

Together we constitute the Tourism Business Forum (TBF), which meets regularly and has adopted a common strategy. With a common vision, shared programmes, pooled resources, the TBF is effecting real entrepreneurship development in the Western Cape.
