OBJECTIVE:	This project aims to conduct a review of available data, technology and skills applicable to agriculture in the Western Cape.

STATUS:	Underway
DESCRIPTION:	It is the intention of this project to examine the Remote Sensing (RS) industry, in particular that which has relevance to the Western Cape and, more specifically, agriculture and precision agriculture. From this, a report will be compiled containing the following information: Specifications of available data in lay terms Samples of this data with agricultural applications Details of local RS role players, including a skills database International trends and developments Current and potential applications for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in RS and precision farming in Western Cape agriculture Recommendations regarding the role that Elsenburg GIS needs to play in terms of RS for agricultural research, planning and development.
