OBJECTIVE:	This project aims to design an effective, easily navigated and updateable GIS-intensive template for regional agricultural data.

DESCRIPTION:	The Agricultural Overview Documents (OVD) contain voluminous information, mainly in text and table form (in Afrikaans). It is the intention of this pilot project to design a predominantly map-based format to make much of the OVD data more accessible to all interested parties through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) maps and HTML, and at a later stage a web server. The proposed beneficiaries of the project include the Western Cape Department of Agriculture, the Department of the Premier, regional planners and extension offices, potential investors (agribusiness) and the municipal Integrated Development Plans (IDPs) and Spatial Development Frameworks (SDFs).
