Report Traffic Light Faults
INKCAZELO:
Traffic light failures impact adversely on all road users and must be reported immediately.

A new system introduced by the City of Cape Town's transport department enables motorists and pedestrians to report faulty traffic lights by calling the 24-hour traffic signal fault call centre on a sharecall number.

The control box at each of the 1300 intersections controlled by traffic lights has recently been fitted with and now displays unique indentification numbers. This enables the City to easily identify the intersection and send out a repair crew to attend to the problem.
IMIYALELO:
  • STEP 1: Identify Problem: This could be a knocked down pole, red lights flashing, or perhaps all the lights are out, or the signal is misaligned.
  • STEP 2: Make contact with call centre: 086 000 1948 : don't forget to provide the call centre with the special identification number on the control box (if you are able to see it from your vehicle) or the intersection of the street names if you are unable to see the unique number
  • STEP 3: The call centre logs this call and forwards it to the appropriate official for immediate action

Depending on the number of faults reported it may be necessary for the City to prioritise the most critical faults so that these are attended to first.

The City appeals to all road users to immediately report traffic light faults. Your phone call could save a life
