In response to Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool's call to build the Western Cape as a Home for All, Education MEC Cameron Dugmore will over the next few weeks switch on the lights of at least six of the remaining twelve schools without power.

The Premier committed himself to, within 100 days of his inauguration, electrify six schools and move the Usasazo High School from Maitland to Khayelitsha, as part of the government's education deposits in demonstrating its commitment to delivery to the poor.

This weekend, Education MEC Dugmore will attend celebration ceremonies where the following schools will be switched on:

• Friday 23 July, 15h00 - Seekoegat Primary, Prins Albert (near Beaufort West)
• Saturday 24 July, 10h00 - Braken Hill Primary, Knysna

MEC Dugmore said he was confident that the department will meet the deadlines as set by the Premier.
