Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool and MEC for Education Cameron Dugmore will award bursaries on Thursday, 21 April 2005 to 29 student teachers who plan to teach maths and science.

The bursaries will bring the total number of bursaries awarded to maths and science student teachers to 82 this year. The bursary scheme by the Western Cape Education Department is one of a number of interventions designed to improve learner performance in maths and science in the Western Cape.

The increase in the number of bursaries this year forms part of the Easter Campaign announced earlier this year by the Premier, to fast-track service delivery and build a learning home for all in the province.
