5 uAgasti 2005
UMTHOMBO WEENDABA iCandelo loMphathiswa Wezendalo, Ucwangciso Nophuhliso Loqoqosho (uRhulumente Wephondo leNtshona Kapa)
I am proud and thrilled to be able to introduce the public launch of the first version of a Micro-economic Development Strategy (MEDS) for the Western Cape. It covers all the economic sectors and themes listed below and also synthesises the key recommendations of research papers on all of these sectors and themes.

I would like to invite you to attend sector and theme research briefing sessions during August and September 2005 at the BOE Conference Centre, Nedbank Building, Clock Tower Precinct, V & A Waterfront, Cape Town.

The Micro-economic Development Strategy for the Province has been developed within the context of the National and Provincial Growth and Development Summits of 2003. From now on the Micro-economic Development Strategy will inform, integrate, and prioritise all interventions made by the Provincial Government Western Cape in the economy (in conjunction with our social partners and other spheres of government) in a manner that aligns and focuses all available domestic and international resources.

From now on, the Micro-economic Development Strategy will be an important planning tool for business, investors, public sector planners and a guide to citizens who want to know how their taxes are being spent to influence the development of the Western Cape economy.
