In welcoming the WEF to the Western Cape, Premier Rasool underlined the significance of this event, saying: "The importance of a globally orientated meeting focussing on the partnerships and resources necessary to African economic development being held in Cape Town cannot be underestimated.
"Our message to the delegates must be that the Western Cape, with the rest of Africa, is open for business, ready for meaningful partnerships and increasingly geared toward aligned public-private partnerships for sustainable, co-ordinated and pro-poor economic development.
This is already reflected in our own Provincial economic development strategy of iKapa Elihlumayo and instruments such as the Provincial Development Council. Our contribution as a Province of Africa to these debates and networks is a vital tool in both our own progress and the contributions that we can make to the rest of our continent."
Premier Rasool will host the WEF delegates to a Dinner on Thursday night the 2nd June at Moyo at Spier at 20h00 at which he will also speak. Media wishing to attend in order to cover this important event should please RSVP to Ms Lizette Louw on 082 415 1878 or 483 5669.
