The Young Woman declared: "Let the blood of those who sacrificed for the struggles of woman not be forgotten; let the spirit of those who follow in their footsteps not be crushed."
The panicle event of the programme is the launch of the very first integrated Western Cape Young Woman's Network, scheduled for 8 August 2006.
The programme is built on a series of dialoguing events in all districts of the province, thereby aiming to facilitate the process of engaging meaningfully with the history of women's struggles for liberation in the province.
The Steering Committee of the Young Women Project this weekend met to find agreement on and draft a provincial action plan for the broad-based empowerment of young women, led by the Western Cape Youth Commission and the South African Youth Council.
The young woman called for an age of young woman leadership to dawn in the Western Cape. They also joined the calls for an end to violence and oppression of woman that in many ways are still prevalent in communities and various sectors of society. The young woman called on all woman and girl-learners to stand up and make their voice heard on issues that directly impact of their lives.
