The ceremony takes place in Heritage Month and the list of honorees have all, in some way, rendered meritorious service in making the Western Cape truly a 'Home for All'.
Rasool said: "A Home for All can only be a vibrant, healing and creative reality in a Province that celebrates and shares its diversity and uniqueness with everyone. In recognising the individuals that receive various Provincial Honours this Heritage Month we reaffirm the need to value the contributions of fellow citizens and to see in their actions the building blocks of a new heritage in a Home for All in the Western Cape."
On the urgent need to build a 'Home for All', Rasool said: "We still have incidents of intolerance, religious extremism, xenophobia and tensions between communities. These do not mean that a Home for All is not attainable. It means that a Home for All is now even more urgently needed."
