Premier Ebrahim Rasool has decided to reopen nominations for the Provincial Development Council(PDC) as certain proposals did not comply with the legal requirements, namely, some did not reach the Provincial Government of the Western Cape by the closing date of 7 February 2008, some did not have CVs attached and others did not have signed declarations by the nominees of their agreement to serve on the PDC.

Those who submitted nominations which included these elements, i.e. were compliant, need not re-submit their applications. However, the Provincial Government will be advertising particularly for organised business and organised labour to submit fully-compliant nominations.

We would like to thank Civil Society for a rich and diverse group of fully compliant nominations, but that should not prevent any other formations of civil society from taking advantage of the extended deadline to send more nominations.

The new closing date will be 31 March at 16H00.
