The 'Premier's Service Excellence Awards' is an annual event and is the culmination of a thorough process which saw a record number of entrants in 2007 and a rigorous process of short-listing and adjudication. A board of adjudicators travelled the length and breadth of the Western Cape to adjudicate 32 short-listed projects. The adjudication process took place from 28 January 2008 to 9 February 2008.

The projects are based in the different government departments such as health, education, agriculture, transport, etc.

The Awards, currently in its third year, encourage service excellence within the Provincial Government of the Western Cape and serves as a benchmark for civil servants across the province.
