Daar was verskeie organisasies wat n rol gespeel het in die totstandkoming van hierdie projek.
The vision of home for all and the Ikapa Elihlumayo strategy is an appeal to the wider community of the Western Cape for service delivery to comply with the three key concepts of dignity, equity and prosperity.
In attaining this goal, we always look for organisations and funders who share our vision. I believe that the Plettenberg Bay Belgium Development Initiative (PBBDI) is funded by the Belgium Government. Horizon 2007 (lately replaced by Volens) is a Belgian NGO, which acts mainly as a facilitator between developing countries and the Belgian government as the main funding provider and specialises in the co-ordination of development projects.
Its mission is to empower disadvantaged communities through the promotion of employment, entrepreneurship and education. They believe, like us, that projects must become self- sustainable.
I want to thank them for their commitment and participation in this project.
The project was co-ordinated by the PBBDI Network Office located at the Hillview farm in Kwanokuthula, with the main function of facilitating/co-coordinating the partners' activities and enhancing networking amongst the PBBDI role-players. The PBBDI Network Office was also active in analysing the needs assessment in the community, fundraising and networking with other community projects, social organisations and NGO's.
Our direct partners such as Casidra, who are closely associated with the Government of the Western Cape and the Department of Agriculture in the Western Cape, shares the huge responsibility with us to deliver the necessary results to ensure that this ideal materialises.
Casidra plays a vital role, not only for Government, but also for theBroader community in the rural areas, as it has become an important cog in the process of integrated rural development and has established itself as the driver in various empowerment and community projects such as this.
Casidra partnered with the Kranshoek community and the Bitou Municipality to build this Multi-Purpose Community Centre (MPCC) in Kranshoek. The first phase of the MPCC consists of this multi-purpose hall that will house community development and sporting activities, e.g. badminton and volleyball. The first phase of the project is to erect the steel structure of the community hall. The second phase consists of building up the walls, and local brick makers will supply the bricks and local builders will do the building work.
As part of the partnership with the Bitou Municipality, a library has been built on the same plot as third phase. Finally, the MPCC consist of a multi-purpose community hall, a library, an entrepreneurship and a life style building (gym). The plot has the unique feature of a watercourse running along one side and it is envisaged that a few picnic places with braai facilities can be built there.
Ek het reeds gesê die Regering van die Wes-Kaap is ernstig oor die verdere ontwikkeling van ons mense en gemeenskappe en die bewys daarvan kan ook gesien word in die betrokkenheid van die Departement van Landbou binne hierdie gemeenskap Daar is verskeie projekte wat op hierdie stadium in en om Kranshoek wat die kranshoek gemeenskap raak. Hierdie projekte is onder andere; Die Kranshoek Boere, Ericaville heuningbostee en Jakalskraal melkery.
Die Kranshoek Boere projek bestaan uit 15 plus 8 persele wat deur Kranshoek inwoners bewerk word. Die beplanning vir die opgradering van infrastruktuur en die verskaffing van meganisasie is deur CASIDRA afgehandel. Die Departement van Landbou het die besigheidsplan alreeds goedgekeur. CASIDRA moet slegs die projek implementeer en die kapitale items aankoop. Die projek behels die volgende:
1. Omheining van die persele
2. Opgradering van besproeiingstelsels
3. Verskaffing van watertenks op persele vir veesuiping en benatting van klein groente persele
4. Trekker
5. Ripper, grop en Sleepwa
6. Ketting saag en gereedskap
Die Ericaville Heuningbostee prjek is 'n LRAD plaas waar Heuningbos tee geproduseer word. Die groep het aansoek gedoen vir finansiering vir die verpakkingsaanleg met toerusting. Die aansoek is in ? finale stadium waar daar vir goedkeuring van die nasionale Departement van Landbou gewag word voor implementering.
Jakalskraal Gemeenskapplaas is 'n melkery wat vir baie jare deur CASIDRA bestuur is. Die plaas is reeds aan die gemeenskap oorgedra met CASIDRA wat nog steeds die plaas tegnies ondersteun. Die Departement van Landbou is behulpsaam met tegniese ondersteuning en opgradering van infrastruktuur.
Die eerste fase waarmee Departement landbou besig is is om die nodige inligting te bekom en 'n volledige beplanning te doen. Hieruit kan bepaal word wat die grootste behoefte is in terme van die opgradering van infrastruktuur en verskaffing van tegniese ondersteuning.
Ten slotte wil ek 'n beroep doen op u as gemeenskap om nie net hierdie fasiliteit u eie te maak nie, maar om dit op te pas en te bewaar sodat u almal die voordeel daarvan kan benut.
Dit is dan nou vir my 'n voorreg om hierdie fasiliteit oop te verklaar.
