This service aims to assist development clinics, youth camps and sport training camps. The key objective is to encourage youth to take part in sport and recreation as an alternative to crime and other anti-social activity.  > 

The Department provides several services to the disabled sport sector:hosting annual workshops (held in August 2003 and March 2004) to build capacity, facilitating programmes or events to encourage integration of able and disabled federations, formalising Disabled Sport South Africa - Western Cape.  > 

Along with the Department of Health's Provincial Integrated Departmental Aids Committee, the Department has a HIV/Aids awareness programme that uses sport and recreation as a means to address the HIV/Aids pandemic.  >
