The SASS is South Africa's foreign intelligence component. It is responsible for accurate, relevant and timeous foreign intelligence collected abroad to inform, forecast and advise on real and potential threats and opportunities to the country. The purpose of the intelligence process is to promote, enhance and protect the national and security interests of the country and its people.
